Daylight Saving Time (DST) is the practice of moving the time forward one hour during the spring months, then back again during the fall. The idea of DST arose as a way to extend the number of daylight hours we have in the evening.
While the adoption of DST is almost full of controversy, most of the world (except for countries around the Equator) has implemented DST at one point or another.
However, this change is not universal as different region adopt this on different dates for e.g. in year 2020 in Europe & nearby region it was effective on March 28 and will end on October 25 whereas in United states it started on March 8 and ends on November 1 and so on. They all save one hour in the summer and change their clocks times following the autumn changeover between midnight 01:59:59 a.m. and 03:00:00 a.m.
Daylight saving time is currently adopted in over 70 countries and imposes a twice yearly 1 h change in local time. Japan, India, and China are the only major industrialized countries that do not observe some form of daylight saving.
Either way, this twice-yearly practice of setting our time either forward or back an hour has a way of messing with the most important clock of all our system.
